BJJ Gi Shop Blog: Fly attacks & the BJJ English Open [Video]

Posted November 22 2011

Last night at my BJJ class we were finishing preparation for the BJJ English Open this weekend.

One thing I have notice by perviously being and now watching lots of BJJ White Belts in competition is that when competing, the adrenaline takes over and BJJ fighters often grip the opposite lapel with all their strength. This provides an opportunity for a flying arm bar, as the for some subconscious reason the string someone grips your BJJ Gi, the less likely they are to let go.

Here is an example of me doing this in a BJJ competition.

And here is the awesome BJJ video resource Submission 101 showing you how to execute the flying arm bar.

For completeness as we are trying flying BJJ attacks, here is the flying Triangle

I will be 'reporting' for the BJJ Gi Shop this weekend at the BJJ English Open on both, so if you are attending, please come and say "Hi", I am the guy with the dodgy Movemebr beard and cauliflower ears.
